Russian troops have entered into the Donbas region of Ukraine, which is highly concentrated with nuclear materials and toxic waste. With Donbas now on the frontline, there is foreseeable environmental damage that will have a lasting impact throughout Europe.

Marcantonio and Hook explain that if Russia interferes with the nuclear materials in Ukraine, “the people inhabiting the Donbas region will continue to suffer and literally embody the damage for decades to come.”
