Maggie Shum wrote an article for The Washington Post's Monkey Cage where she discusses Hong Kong's upcoming November 24 elections. She says that analysts see the District Council elections as a test for Beijing and Hong Kong authorities’ political will to uphold the “one country, two systems” arrangement and hold free and fair elections at the district level.

It is crucial that there is no tampering with the election because they represent the little that is left of Hong Kong's democratic voice in its political system.
