Former Kellogg PhD Fellow Víctor Antonio Hernández-Huerta (Visiting Assistant Professor, Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas, Mexico) wrote a piece in Foreign Affairs titled, “The Blackmail Theory of Disputed Elections: When Losing Presidential Candidates Hold Their Countries Hostage.” In the article, Hernández-Huerta discusses the US history of a peaceful transfer of  presidential power and how President Trump has threatened to upend that tradition in the 2020 elections.
