My name is Luke Van de Walle, and I am a senior majoring in Political Science, International Development, and Data Science. My interest in International Development Studies and Ecuador was sparked during a gap year in Paute, Ecuador, where I lived with a host family and worked at a local school. I continued my global education through a non-profit consulting internship in Chiltiupán, El Salvador, in the summer of 2022. While on campus, I have sought to bolster this experience by working for the CSLC, where I cover news about our Fulbright Teaching Assistants, in addition to social media management and graphic design efforts. Through my experiences abroad, my IDS research, and time with the CSLC, I have developed a strong passion for fostering an environment characterized by diversity, inclusion, and empathy. While not busy with school work, I enjoy running and biking around campus and finding a quiet spot to hammock and read. Feel free to reach out with any questions about my research or other experience!
