About

Leah Brucal is a sophomore at the University of Notre Dame majoring in Science-Preprofessional Studies and minoring in Compassionate Care in Medicine, Poverty Studies, and Theology. Leah is highly interested in learning more about sustainable solutions to bridge health disparities in developing countries. Her main focus centers around the social determinants of health that prevent access to healthcare around the world, using the model of accompaniment to inspire her work. She desires to pursue a career in medicine and global health in the future. Leah has previously worked with an international health organization in Chiapas, Mexico named Compañeros En Salud (CES) to develop module-based training for community health worker supervisors for leadership and mental health support in the supervisory setting.

Leah is excited to work with a group of scholars who are dedicated to becoming a force of good in the world through curiosity-driven research. She is currently developing the skills necessary to conduct meaningful research, and she hopes to communicate what she learns through sustainable and compassionate solutions to respond to the health disparities affecting populations around the world.
