About

Kylie McGrath ’24 is a rising sophomore studying international economics and psychology. McGrath is interested in global health policy, and she hopes to make long-term changes to rural or impoverished areas that do not have access to health resources. She is becoming fluent in Spanish and learning about Latin American cultures so she can work in Spanish-speaking countries in the future. McGrath is active in GlobeMed at Notre Dame, a club that works with partners in Laos to improve health around the world. She also tutors South Bend students through the Notre Dame Center for Civic Innovation to benefit the local Notre Dame community. In the future, McGrath hopes to work on issues that intersect the fields of economics and health.

This summer, McGrath will be completing a global health fellowship with the Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children (FIMRC). She will gain a foundation in global health and explore more specific tracks on global health topics. During the fellowship, McGrath will receive information on the health structure and status of all nine FIMRC sites. One of FIMRC’s focuses at its nine sites is education, which directly relates to McGrath’s interest in teaching students. Additionally, McGrath will complete training modules and conduct medical case studies. After receiving this specific knowledge about FIMRC, McGrath will develop and implement a project that directly benefits a FIMRC site.
