Krystal Sun is double majoring in business analytics and economics with a minor in philosophy, politics, and economics (PPE). She works with Professor Lakshmi Iyer studying women's political participation in local commission boards. In the short run, Sun will be assisting her mentor in completing data entry on applicants to boards and commissions in Reno, NV. Then, Sun will analyze the created database using Stata and/or R and generate tables of summary statistics to understand the dynamics of board applications and appointments by gender and ethnicity. In the long run, Sun will conduct literature review on the careers of women in public service leadership positions to consolidate findings the project. Sun may work on using Stata to clean data on historical public finances across cities and districts of India after wrapping up the Reno project.

On campus, Sun is involved in International Admissions, the Greater China Scholars Program, and the Student International Business Council. Outside of school, Sun is spearheading campus outreach efforts for a nonprofit called Girls Who Consult. Next summer, Sun will be interning at Bain & Co. as an Associate Consultant Intern.
