Julio Leonidas Aguirre is a tenured professor of political science at Universidad Nacional de Cuyo (UNCuyo), Mendoza, Argentina, and an Associated Researcher at Centro Interdisciplinario para el Estudio de Políticas Públicas, Buenos Aires, Argentina. He has been the Academic Vice president of UNCuyo and the Director of the Political Science Department at that Institution. He received the UNSAM award for best doctoral dissertation in Social Science.
His current research focuses on electoral regimes' impact on political competition at the subnational level in Argentina. His work has been published in Revista Mexicana de Sociología, Revista de la Sociedad Argentina de Análisis Político. His latest book is Temas de Teoría Política Contemporánea. Una perspectiva sistémica (2022).
