About

Julie Hawke is a joint peace studies and sociology PhD. student. She is committed to understanding the impacts of digital technologies on conflict and polarization, and how best to leverage their use in strategic peacebuilding efforts. She brings a decade of experience in third-party conflict engagement, global youth peace education, and digital peacebuilding program design and management to her PhD studies, where her research centers on defining conditions for positive inter-group contact in online spaces. Julie obtained her MA in Conflict Resolution as a Luce Fellow from the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver and earned a BA studying Anthropology with an Intercultural Peacebuilding focus at BYU-Hawaii.
