Julia Warden is a senior at the University of Notre Dame studying Business Analytics and Film with a research focus on the interactions between geopolitics, culture and business. In January 2023, she performed research at American theme parks in Japan on a grant from the Liu Institute for Asia and Asian Studies, and then presented this research in March 2023 at the University of Oxford on a grant from the Mendoza College of Business. Her senior thesis explores identity, authenticity, and nationalism in East Asian media; the Institute for Scholarship in Liberal Arts funded her May 2023 research trip to Hong Kong and South Korea. Currently, she is researching post-war recovery in modern-day Yugoslavia with a particular focus on Montenegro. She is grateful to Notre Dame for its strong faculty support of self-driven student projects and variety of grant opportunities.
