About

Jessica Castillo is a senior majoring in Sociology and minors in Education, Schooling & Society and Business Economics. She is currently working as a research assistant with the Sociology department on a project to ascertain the racial and ethnic composition of U.S. social science departments in the top 50 of U.S. News and World Report rankings (2017) and to find any associations with students’ outcomes. Castillo's research interests are in students' outcomes in educational attainment in relation to race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status and in finding ways to use education policy to close the education achievement gap.
