Jack Newell is a sophomore from Albany, NY, studying global affairs and Spanish. He is interested in national security, Latin America, and the evolution of China's geopolitical strategy. As part of the Kellogg International Scholars Program, Newell is researching Sino-American subnational engagement under the direction of Prof. Kyle Jaros. Newell seeks to revise existing datasets on Memorandums of Understanding between American states and Chinese institutions for further analysis, ultimately allowing policymakers to determine the effect of such agreements on broader relations and U.S. national security.
