Hannah Early Bagdanov is a PhD candidate in Political Science at the University of Notre Dame and a Doctoral Student Affiliate of the Kellogg Institute for International Studies and the Klau Center for Civil & Human Rights. Her research and teaching focus broadly on conflict, state and non-state governance, and identity in the Middle East. Her dissertation examines the political behavior of civilians in contexts of conflict with particular attention to how Palestinians in East Jerusalem engage with the Israeli state in seeking public goods and social services. Her published work appears in Religion, State, and Society and the Washington Post's Monkey Cage blog. Hannah's research is funded by the Governance and Local Development Institute at the University of Gothenburg, the Kellogg Institute for International Studies, the Liu Center for Asia and Asian Studies, the Institute for the Study of the Liberal Arts, the Klau Center for Civil & Human Rights, and the Notre Dame International Security Center.
