2014-2015 Thurk will present a new paper at the European meeting of the Econometric Society. Presenting at a conference of this stature generally represents an important opportunity to share scholarly work with key members of the economic community. In this circumstance, Thurk submitted the paper in question to the Review of Economic Studies, a top-tier economics journal that tends to be interested in topics related to Europe. Consequently, there is a high probability that one of our reviewers will be in the audience. In the paper “Protecting the European Automobile Industry through Environmental Regulation” Thurk investigates the role of government environmental policy in extracting rents from foreign firms and protecting domestic industry.
