Russias Failed Democratic Revolution, 1917: A Centennial Reappraisal - Notre Dame Rome Global Gateway
Conference/Event Grant
This is a co-sponsored, international conference - "Russia’s Failed Democratic Revolution, 1917: A Centennial Reappraisal," to be held March 10-12, 2016 at the University of Notre Dame Global Gateway in Rome.
The conference will reflect the impact on the study of the Russian Revolution made by the collapse of the Soviet Union, transition to democracy in Russia during the 1990s, and the rise of new authoritarian regime of Vladimir Putin in 2000-2015. The proposed conference will also exemplify and promote the new opportunities for collaboration between Western and Russian historians as we approach the centennial anniversary of Russia's great (yet failed) revolution. The truly international group of participants (see below) will help increase the Rome Gateway Center’s visibility and bring recognition to Notre Dame’s program in modern European and Russian history well beyond Italy.
