On March 27, 2017, the Kellogg Institute and LANACC hosted a special dinner "honoring the work and contributions" of Fr. Pelton, as the invitation stated. Held in conjunction with Romero Days that year, it was an opportunity to recognize Fr. Pelton's contributions and to inaugurate the now annual Rev. Robert S. Pelton, CSC Annual Essay Contest. The Institute created a memory book for Fr. Pelton that included photos alongside written tributes and memories contributed by friends, family, and colleagues past and present.
