Euzeneia Carlos is associate professor in the Department of Social Science at Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES). PhD in Political Science from the University of São Paulo (USP). She is coordinator of the Participation and Democracy Center (NUPAD-UFES) and researcher at Brazilian Center for Analysis and Planning (CEBRAP). Research is in civil society, social movements, participation, democracy and public policies.

She has published several articles in periodicals on the topic of social movements and the civil society. Published five books, among them are “Disaster and lack of governance in Rio Doce: affected, institutions and collective action”, coauthored with Adrian Gurza Lavalle (2022); “Social Movements Contributors and Institutionalization: Social Policies, Race and Gender in Brazil”, coauthored with Adrian Gurza Lavalle et all. (2019) and “Social Movements and Participatory Institutions: Effects of Institutional Engagement in the Post-transition Context” (2015).

Is a Research Productivity Fellow CNPq-PQ and receives the Olavo Brasil de Lima Júnior Award for Best Article by Brazilian Political Science Association (ABCP).

Research project at Kellogg Institute is “Gender activism and public policy in Brazil: social mobilization and dismantling in the context of the extreme right-wing”.
