Educating for Laudato Si': Engineering for Integral Ecology

The goal of this research project is to write a book focusing on the theme of Engineering Education for Integral Ecology, in the spirit of Pope Francis’ environmental encyclical Laudato Si’. The intended audience of the book includes Catholic educators in institutions of higher learning, especially those in interdisciplinary studies, engineering, and theology; practitioners of integral human development; directors of evangelization; seminary formators; and perhaps high school teachers, catechists or missionaries. The book intends to address the urgent need to put into practice integral ecology as envisioned by Pope Francis in Laudato Si’¸ in conversation with the broader literature and practice of integral human development (IHD). It also seeks to propose principles and practices for revivifying engineering education in the spirit of integral ecology, as little literature currently exists in this area.
