Dinner and Dialogue with the OAS Secretary for Strengthening Democracy
REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED.
As part of the University's Democracy Initiative, and leading up to the Kellogg's Global Democracy Conference in May, the Kellogg Institute for International Studies is pleased to welcome Francisco Guerrero, the Secretary for Strengthening Democracy for the Organization of American States (OAS), to the University of Notre Dame.
This evening event is the centerpiece of his visit and includes a dinner with the secretary, followed by an armchair discussion of current issues surrounding democracy in the Americas, moderated by Kellogg Director Aníbal Pérez-Liñán. Topics to be discussed include the factors affecting democracy, the relevance of the Electoral Observation Missions, the OAS’ work in promoting the Inter-American Democratic Charter (IADC), and the organization’s role in future prospects for democracy, peace, security, and development in Latin America.
This dinner and dialogue is for University of Notre Dame faculty, students, and staff. Seating is limited and registration is required.
