GRANTS FOR KELLOGG FACULTY FELLOWS

Request for Support of Postdoctoral Researcher

The Kellogg Institute seeks proposals from faculty fellows interested in hiring a postdoctoral researcher  to conduct research on a project dedicated to the study of democracy.

The Kellogg Institute seeks proposals from faculty fellows interested in working with and mentoring a postdoctoral researcher hired with funding provided by Kellogg and the University’s Democracy Initiative.  Proposals should include research agendas for how the research would benefit from the collaboration with a postdoctoral researcher and specific skills needed.  This call seeks to identify research needs focused on the theme of democracy and the subthemes of democratic protection, erosion, and resilience.

The Kellogg Institute will host two postdoctoral scholars for the academic year 2024-2025. The individuals selected for this position will devote approximately 50% of their time to activities related to research assistantship in the Kellogg Institute, and 50% of their time to their independent research. Candidates selected for this position will have the opportunity to attend and present at the Kellogg Work in Progress Seminars, will have dedicated office space, and will be part of a cohort of visiting fellows and guest researchers. In addition, the position includes $5,000 per year in research funds.

Postdoctoral Researchers will be hired for a one-year term, with the option of renewing their appointment for a second year, conditional on satisfactory performance. For details of the current job posting click here.

APPLY

Selection

The Kellogg Grants Committee will select two projects that will receive a postdoctoral researcher for an academic year, with the option of renewing their appointment for a second year, conditional on satisfactory performance.

Projects related to Policy and Practice Labs or Research Clusters, and those addressing questions of democratic erosion, democratic resilience, and strategies to protect democracy, will receive priority for consideration.

Faculty Fellows whose applications are successful will then participate in the selection of the postdoctoral researcher to ensure alignment of skills and compatibility with the project.
