New Frontiers in Economic Development: Engaging the World’s Leading Figures in Development to Notre Dame - Spring 2017

2016-2017

This initiative brings to Notre Dame an amazing group of five leading development economists during the spring semester 2017. The work of these economists connects centrally with the Kellogg Institute’s commitment to advance the theme of human development at the University. This year we will welcome five economists focused on the role of business growth in the developing world, though all have contributed to other fields as well. Their work focuses on constraints to small and medium scale business growth, and importantly, how these constraints spill over into other aspects of the economy (health, education decisions, etc.). These individuals agreed to spend time at Notre Dame in large part because of the growing reputation of the economics department, which is in part due to the continued success of this program.
