Charity Ihrman is a sophomore at the University of Notre Dame majoring in global affairs with a supplementary major in Chinese. She competes for Notre Dame’s nationally-ranked Speech and Debate Team, and has served as an intern for two U.S. Members of Congress, while also sharing her time with the United States House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party. She is Co-Vice President of ND Votes. As a developing researcher with the Kellogg Institute, Ihrman is interested in democracy initiatives and their ability to shape global human rights landscapes. She would like to investigate the role of domestic and international policy in promoting the development of the human person, specifically in regards to human rights violations. After graduation, Ihrman hopes to work in Washington D.C., working to bridge the gap between Congress, nongovernmental organizations, and executive agencies, helping to build comprehensive and constructive policy between the United States and China.
