Audrey Duran Martinez is a first-year from Louisville, Kentucky studying Economics and Pre-Health studies with an intended minor in portuguese. Due to her personal and academic experiences, she is highly interested in researching the impact immigration has on economic development, healthcare disparities, and international affairs. While being involved with the Kellogg Developing Researchers program, she is also part of various clubs on campus that vary from business, policy, traditional Hispanic dance groups, and the Transformational Leaders Program. With the ability to translate in Spanish and learning a new language, she seeks opportunities in translation as well. She was recently accepted into a research internship opportunity in Brazil during the month of July with professor Bahia and three other students! She will be analyzing PFAS chemicals that are causing an increase in diabetes and cancer due to the environmental neglect in lower-income communities. She is eager for her research skills to flourish during her first research project.
