Anni Gu joined the Department of Sociology at ND in 2023. She graduated from the University of Washington, Seattle, in 2018 with a B.A. in International Studies and English Literature. She also earned a Master’s degree in Public Policy (MPP), with specializations in immigration policy and social policy, at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Her research interests are situated at the intersections of culture and transnational migration. Currently, she is looking at the social mechanisms that tailored a cultural understanding of racial power hierarchy into the newly arrived immigrants. Her previous project visited the possibility of closing the health gap for immigrants in the state of Illinois, exploring the systematic bias post to newly arrived immigrants.
