Alice Lei is currently doing research with Professor Karrie Koesel surrounding civic education and information in China and Russia. Specifically, regarding the former country, Lei is assisting in data collection and analysis on China’s gaokao in preparation for Professor Koesel’s new book. What is excluded in outward facing propaganda coming from China? Comparatively, are there any similarities between manipulation tools used in Russia’s online spaces and other places? How does resistance manifest in these communities that are often subject to censorship?
