Faculty Fellow Ernest Morrell will lead the James R. Squire Office of Policy Research in the English Language Arts, opening this fall under the direction of ND’s Center for Literacy Education.
The Squire Office will help advance knowledge and inform policy on teaching English language arts. It will conduct original research and develop resources on several issues in the English language. These include the empowering of bilingual students to use their skills in the English/English language arts classroom, the uses of media and popular culture in classroom, and implement changes in the teaching of canonical and contemporary/multicultural literatue and research into innovative practices.
