Faculty Fellow Daniel Philpott (political science and peace studies) was quoted in an article in The New York Times about Pope Francis' trip to the United Arab Emirates to signal support for the country's religious inclusion efforts. On Monday, Pope Francis met with the Council of Muslim Elders, which specializes in interfaith dialogue, as part of his three-day visit to the country. Philpott said “'the worry is the dialogue is just part of an image,' part of the efforts by the rulers of the United Arab Emirates to project a modern image to attract business."
