Mitch Gainer is the Director of Investments at NextEra Energy, investing in energy and climate tech. NextEra is the nation’s largest utility and a top capital infrastructure investor, driving the energy transition at scale. Mitch brings an expertise in traditional finance and strategy to bridge venture-backed innovation with NextEra’s industry-leading execution.
Previously, Mitch was Partner & Head of Diligence at Yield Capital Partners (YCP), leading venture, growth equity, and infrastructure investments in digital infrastructure and climate tech. Before that, as an Associate Partner at Activate Consulting, he advised Fortune 500 firms, high-growth tech companies, and leading private equity investors on strategic decisions in B2B software, 5G, and digital infrastructure.
Mitch began his career at BCG, focusing on energy and industrials, before serving in the Obama White House (USTR), where he worked on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade negotiations. He holds an MBA from Wharton, an MPA from Harvard Kennedy School, and a BA in Economics from Notre Dame.
