Former Dissertation Year Fellow Esteban Salas '21 (PhD history) has accepted a permanent position as lecturer in African history at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), part of the University of London system in the UK, beginning September 1, 2022. He will teach courses on slavery, race, labor, and colonialism.
Salas will continue his scholarship on sub-Saharan and Atlantic Africa before the twentieth century, especially on West Central African societies both precolonial and during the Transatlantic Slave Trade era. He is currently preparing his first book manuscript.
