Xolisa Ngwenya ’22 is a rising senior majoring in psychology and minoring in business economics and entrepreneurship. This summer, Ngwenya is completing a virtual internship with IN-KIND South Africa, a Cape Town-based NGO that seeks to increase access to digital literacy for disadvantaged youths in South Africa, as a response to the rising need for computer literacy magnified by the pandemic. At IN-KIND, Ngwenya is a research and development intern whose responsibilities include researching the market landscape for digital literacy programs in South Africa and using those findings to design and implement a digital literacy program that is replicable and scalable throughout South African communities. Ngwenya is passionate about research and international youth development, especially for young people in underprivileged communities, and she hopes to dedicate her career to addressing inequalities faced by disadvantaged youths in areas such as health and education through the lens of international development policy.
