Faculty Fellow Dan Philpott (political science) wrote an article in America magazine titled, “Ignore the Optics. Trump’s Executive Order Could Jump-Start the Cause of Global Religious Freedom.” In the article, Philpott discusses the implications of the Executive Order Advancing International Religious Freedom, which President Trump signed on June 2, 2020.
Philpott comments that although the Trump administration has not proved to be promoters of human rights, “the order helps to lift the US government’s advocacy of religious freedom abroad into high-level foreign policy.”
