Chizoma Duru ‘25 is a first-year studying international economics and political science with a minor in French at the University of Notre Dame. She was born and currently resides in Lagos, Nigeria. Chizoma has had numerous experiences in various countries on the African continent which inspired her passions for Afro-feminism and Pan-Africanism. She is currently working on starting her own organization for African women, named Umu Nwaanyi Afrika. She has involved herself in numerous conferences that align with her passions which includes serving as the Director of Administration for the South African Ideas Festival, currently being the Director of Logistics for the Pan African Youth Conference as well as a member of the planning committee for the Human Development Conference. She hopes to conduct research concerning Women’s marginalization in African political spaces and the Economic empowerment of African countries via African unity.
