Yong Suk Lee is associate professor of technology, economy, and global affairs in the Keough School of Global Affairs. His research focuses on new technologies such as artificial intelligence and robotics in relation to labor economics, entrepreneurship, and urban economics. Suk Lee has been a Kellogg Institute faculty fellow since 2022.
His work has appeared in journals such as Labour Economics, the Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Urban Economics, and Journal of Health Economics, and he has co-edited three books. His article “Entrepreneurship, Small Businesses, and Economic Growth in Cities” won the Urban Land Institute Prize for best paper published in the Journal of Economic Geography in 2017.
Prior to joining the faculty at Notre Dame, Lee was the SK Center Fellow at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies and the Deputy Director of the Korea Program at the Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center. He also was an assistant professor of economics at Williams College in Massachusetts.
A Kellogg Faculty Fellow since 2022, Lee holds a PhD in economics from Brown University, a Master of Public Policy from Duke University, and an additional master's degree in architecture from Seoul National University. He worked as a real estate development consultant and architecture designer as he transitioned from architecture to economics.
