Carter Greenwald is a member of the Class of 2028, majoring in Neuroscience and Behavior and minoring in Global Health at the University of Notre Dame. Academically, he is deeply engaged in the sciences while simultaneously developing skills in clinical care and global health. Outside the classroom, he holds his EMT certification and has extensive hands-on medical experience as a medical assistant and volunteer, including international experience in Costa Rica, where he studied patient experiences and healthcare.

Building on this clinical foundation, Carter currently serves as a research assistant in the Hyde lab, studying genes involved in retinal progenitor cell differentiation using morpholino-based knockdown techniques. His research focuses on understanding differences between mammalian and zebrafish responses in the retina and potential applications in regenerative medicine. Moving forward, Carter is eager to expand his leadership and research skills while exploring the intersection of clinical practice, research, and global health to improve patient care and contribute to advancements in medicine.
