About

Jack Theobald is a sophomore majoring in Political Science and intending on minoring in Business Economics. Theobald’s research interests include international security, U.S. foreign policy, and democratization/politics, particularly in Francophone Africa and the Middle East. In addition, Theobald would love to explore and learn more about the field of international law and political morality, especially in a global context.

Theobald’s interest in research originated in high school, where he had the opportunity to complete multiple research projects with the guidance of dedicated teachers. His paper on Hitler’s betrayal of Stalin in World War Ⅱ and his senior thesis on the influence of public opinion on the CIA’s torture program following 9/11 were both influential in provoking his academic interest in politics. Theobald is looking forward to taking advantage of the Developing Researchers Program as well as learning valuable skills and knowledge from the Kellogg faculty.
