Nadim Khouzam is a junior at the University of Notre Dame majoring in Neuroscience and Behavior with a minor in Anthropology. Nadim is highly interested in learning and working to solve healthcare problems, researching medicine through an analytical lens, and learning the computer language R. During his Freshman year, Nadim was involved in research with Dr. Alex Perkins and his epidemiology lab. He worked to find correlations between Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) and Covid-19. His main goal was to investigate the reason for the skew of RSV due to Covid's extreme takeover. He worked with Dr. Perkins throughout the scholarly year and was eventually able to present a poster of his work at the University of Notre Dame's Spring COSJAM event. Unfortunately, Dr. Perkins is on a sabbatical this year and Nadim was not able to continue this research. But, he was lucky enough to become a research assistant for Dean Santiago Schnell in his quantitative and biological research. Although it's still early days, Nadim is attempting to create a standardized guideline for impact papers of published papers, particularly review articles. Nadim is also involved with research in the Harper Cancer Research Institute with Dr. Margaret Schwarz. Her lab focuses on the contribution that the vascularate brings to functional lung development and regulating tissue regeneration in disease processes such as lung disease of prematurity. Nadim is involved heavily in his dorm life, volunteers at the Center for Hospice Care, and most importantly, he loves listening to music!
