About

Elizabeth Stifel ‘24 was born in South Africa and lived in Madagascar and Ethiopia when she was younger. Before coming to Notre Dame, she spent a gap year in Senegal with the Kennedy Lugar YES Abroad Program where she lived with a host family, went to a local lycée, and volunteered with community organizations. In the summer of 2021, she joined an AmeriCorps conservation program in Oregon. These experiences guided Stifel’s interest in the intersection of conservation, international development and policy. Since beginning college she has sought out different opportunities, including interning with a national non-partisan news source, a South Bend community organizing group, the US Embassy in Dakar, researching housing policies with the Notre Dame Student Policy Network, and acting as a research assistant with the COVID Border Accountability Program. She is excited to learn new skills and build on her beginner experiences with Excel, Stata, and literary analysis.
