Wesley Hedden is a PhD student in Peace Studies and Sociology at the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies. He earned a BA in Philosophy and Latin American Studies from Tulane University and an MA in Applied Conflict Transformation Studies from the Paññastra University of Cambodia. His research explores the impact of social media on interethnic and interreligious conflict in Southeast Asia. 

Wesley resided in Southeast Asia from 2006 to 2020. He is the founder of Sarus, a peacebuilding nonprofit that has run 15 exchange programs between Cambodia and Vietnam and Bangladesh and Myanmar for over 200 youth leaders since 2010. Wesley has worked in a wide range of universities and NGOs throughout Southeast Asia. He speaks Spanish, Vietnamese, Khmer, Tagalog, and Burmese (in that order of proficiency).
