Nate Cieplik is a sophomore at Notre Dame studying biology and global affairs, with concentrations in international development studies and biomedical sciences and a minor in compassionate care in medicine. Cieplik was selected for the Kellogg Winter Term project with Clara Luna, an Ecuadorian NGO that supports the community by providing educational programs to people of all ages. Cieplik has also been active with the Kellogg Institute for International Studies as a Dorm Representative, helping to distribute relevant information about meetings and opportunities to residents of Knott Hall. Cieplik is currently involved with Dr. Olson's lab at Notre Dame studying reactive sulfur species, the evolutionary origin of antioxidant molecules, and cardiovascular physiology. He is most interested in studying the persistent health inequities within and between countries, and he hopes to conduct international research in this field on this topic following his junior year.
