About

Makeda Gemechu is a first-year student at the University of Notre Dame majoring in Global Affairs. Although she currently does not have any additional majors/minors, she hopes to continue exploring the areas of peace and development studies. She is also interested in human rights and refugee-related issues. Currently, Makeda is working on a "Safety for Black Girls" campaign through the Black Girl Rising, Inc. Think Tank, where she is helping develop a presentation to bring awareness to the various safety issues that Black girls face. Additionally, Makeda is also working as a Research Assistant for the Pulte Institute for Global Development on an Ecosystem Diagnostic White Paper. She is very excited to be a part of the Kellogg Institute Developing Researchers Program and looks forward to enhancing her research skills and assisting with research projects.
