This talk will consider the complex history of Muslim-Christian encounters in colonial Mali. The case of the contentious encounters between African colonial subjects and the White Fathers, the Roman Catholic missionary order, helps to illustrate how different religions and Muslims and Christians have been mutually imbricated over time.
