My proposal, Remembering the Snow, is a creative writing project. It aims to write a non-fiction essay (7000 words) about the effects of the ecological and climate crisis on a specific community in the Southern Cone. Once the essay is written, I will publish it in both English and Spanish in prestigious cultural magazines. My essay seeks to answer the following questions: How is the current ecological and climate crisis incorporated into the memory of the citizenry? What are the points of contact between the modification of the main characteristics of an ecosystem and the different ways in which this fact is remembered and represented? What can we learn from the present time by reconstructing a singular climatic event from the past through the written, oral, and visual materials that the inhabitants of a city left as testimony? Climate crisis, memory, and civic identity will be the three axes that organize my research.
