About

Elena Iovieno ‘28 is excited about research that will equip her with the skills, knowledge, empathy,  and confidence to enter into a professional sphere of social justice. She is currently assisting Professor Steve Reifenberg with his final editing stages for his book Learning to Team-Up: The Transformative Power of Teams in the Classroom.

Iovieno interned at Austen Riggs Center this past summer, a psychiatric residential treatment center, where she developed a passion for quantitative research and understanding the barriers to mental health access. She would be especially interested in research focused on mental health education, and the training of  well equipped, diversified professionals.

Additionally, she is interested in projects to learn more about systematic racism in the United States. She has specific interests in housing segregation efforts, criminalization, and mass-incarceration. Research that could further her understanding of these topics is something she is looking for!
