Abroad: London, England, Fall 2025
Eva (Yidu) Hu is working with Professor Victoria Hui, a political science professor at Notre Dame who specializes in the study of freedom and US-China relations. Together, they are exploring how ancient warfare has influenced China's national political identity by analyzing historical war records across Asia.
Originally from Shanghai, Eva Hu has conducted in-depth research on China’s zero-Covid healthcare policies. In a paper she published, she argues that strict compliance measures have contributed to increased public malleability under government control. To further explore the concept of freedom under the national security law, Eva spent the summer of 2024 studying abroad in Hong Kong. This opportunity was supported by grants from the Glynn Family Honors Program and the Greater China Scholar Program. In Summer 2025, she expanded her academic interests by studying Philosophy of Biology and Physics at Peking University in Beijing.
