Grants to Support Faculty Fellows' Research

2025-2026

This project explores the vox populi, the voice of the people as they have drawn upon the figure of Óscar Romero to offer a vision, inspiration, and hope for the transformation of their social worlds. In particular, the project focuses on how Romero has been remembered, interpreted, and received within the art of the people (street murals, other visual art, music, artisanry, poems, and performance), including in their political resistance to repressive regimes. As such, the project explores a key facet of democracy and democratization in Latin America.
