About

Eskandar Ataallah is a Syrian peacebuilding practitioner and researcher with experience across conflict-affected settings in relief, development, and peacebuilding. His work spans program management, context analysis, and stakeholder engagement with organizations such as USAID, UNDP, UNHCR, and Catholic Relief Services.

Before beginning doctoral studies at Notre Dame’s Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies, Eskandar earned a Master of Global Affairs in International Peace Studies at
the Keough School of Global Affairs and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Tishreen University. He has managed community development and youth empowerment projects in Syria, coordinated international research consortia on humanitarian interventions, and supported peacebuilding programming.

His academic interests center on the intersections of artificial intelligence and peacebuilding, exploring how emerging technologies can be harnessed to prevent conflict, strengthen social cohesion, and support inclusive peace processes. Eskandar draws on over a decade of experience in relief, development, and peacebuilding across conflict-affected contexts to ground his research in practical and policy-relevant approaches
