Leila Cury is a third-year student at the University of Notre Dame, pursuing majors in Economics and Global Affairs with minors in French. Cury is currently conducting research with Professor Ted Beatty, continuing work on the history of cyanide and engineering projects, with a current focus on writing a biography of the pioneers in the use of cyanide. Through this work, Cury is exploring how global industrial shifts affected international commerce and technological development. Beyond her research, Cury is deeply engaged in several campus organizations. She is involved in the Student International Business Council (SIBC) Impact Consulting Division, the Jubilee Initiative for Financial Inclusion (JIFFI), the Robinson Community Learning Center, and the Brazilian Student Association (BRASA). Over the past two summers, she has gained international experience across multiple sectors. In 2025, she worked as a Summer Associate at the Caritas Child Welfare Institute in Lithuania, supporting Ukrainian refugee families and coordinating with NGOs to improve services. In 2024, she joined the Center for Talented Youth in Ireland, where she organized a summer program for 3,000 students, advanced inclusion policies, and contributed to a study on gifted education with William & Mary College. Cury is currently spending the academic year abroad at Sciences Po in Paris.
