Sylvia Blom is a postdoctoral research associate with the Ford Program in Human Development Studies and Solidarity. She is a development economist with interests in global health and nutrition. Her work examines the causes and consequences of poverty and malnutrition in developing countries. She's especially interested in understanding the challenges and choices of the urban poor and the impacts of a changing climate on livelihoods and wellbeing.
Previously, Blom worked at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and the International Food Policy Research Institute. She received a PhD in Applied Economics and Management from Cornell University in May 2021.
