Michael Rauenhorst is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Social Investment Managers and Advisors (SIMA). He has co-developed some of the first commercial investment funds which provide clean energy to low-income people, reducing CO2 emissions and promote gender balance. Michael originates investments in leading social enterprises across Africa and Asia and manages advisory engagements with foundations, impact and faith-based investors. Previously, he was with Deutsche Bank for 13 years, where his team launched five microfinance and impact investment funds working in over 35 countries. At Moody’s Corporation, he co-developed some of the first social and environmental ratings. With Jesuit Refugee Service, he established medical, food, and microfinance programs for 70,000 Burmese refugees in remote camps.
Michael is an alum of the University of Notre Dame (B.A., class of ’80), the Mitchell Hamline School of Law (J.D., ’84) and Columbia University Business School (M.B.A., ’95).
He is board member of Stichting Impact Investment, FADICA (emeritus), Opus Prize Foundation, Gregorian University Foundation and Deutsche Bank Microfinance Development Fund. He is advisor to Catholic Relief Services Impact Investment Committee and Microcredit Limited (Jamaica).
