I am David Eliaona Lyimo, a PhD candidate in Theology – World Religions World Church, with a research focus on the Reimagination and Reconstruction of Christology in African Christianity. I am from Tanzania and was born and raised in Kilimanjaro (the Mountain region). I was Ordained a Priest of the Congregation of Holy Cross in East Africa (2008), and worked at St. Brendan’s Parish in Kitete, Tanzania, where I also was Principal of Audrey Veldman Vocational/Technical Training School. I was accepted for the MTS program in Systematic Theology at Notre Dame in 2012, and later the PhD program in World Religions World Church in 2014. At the completion of my PhD, I hope to go back to East Africa, to teach and do more research in African Theology and World Religions/World Church.

Thematic Interests

My research interests are in theology, world religions and ethnography. I am focusing mostly on Christianity in Africa and how it has continued to interact with the peoples of Africa and their changing cultural practices, and how all this affect African religiosity.
